Oct. 23 - 27

 Bonjour les classes!

This week we prepared for upcoming International French Week! We read an interesting book called "F Comme Francais" all about important French Canadian facts. We sketch-noted these interesting facts as we listened. The second day we got into groups and came up with a unique fact to add to our posters for French Week. We look forward to some upcoming leadership roles in November to demonstrate our knowledge to the school on this holiday!

Oct. 16 - 19

 Bonjour les classes!

Our art for the Life in Alberta to the Beat of Language and Culture contest has been collected and is on its way! Hopefully we will hear back on the contest results soon. Wish our grade 5/6's luck!

This week in grade 4/5 we designed spooky monsters and described them using the vocabulary around body parts that we have been practicing. Students introduced their monsters with "il/Elle s'appelle" and used colours and numbers to describe at least 3 body parts that their monster has.

In grade 6, we completed a similar activity, but monsters were designed around a French emotion that we have been learning about. Monsters were introduced with "il/Elle s'appelle" and the verb Etre used in "je suis" to tell the monsters feelings, colour, and shape.

We also learned how to use numbers up to 13 to play "Va a la Peche" a French version of Go Fish.

Oct. 9 - 13

 Bonjour les classes!

This week grade 4 continued their learning of body parts by learning some new songs and games. On top of reviewing our song "Bonjour Monsieur", we also listened to the French version of "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" and saw how fast we could go! Students also had the opportunity to play Simon Says using their body part vocabulary.

This week grade 5 continued their learning of body parts by learning some new songs and games. On top of reviewing our song "Bonjour Monsieur", we also learned a new game similar to our Je M'Appelle game where we need to call out the body part on a card to complete a chain. We also completed our art for the Alberta Art contest. Final pieces will be collected Monday and mailed to Edmonton on Tuesday.

This week grade 6 continued their learning around emotions and using the verb Etre to convey feeling. We reviewed our song "Bonjour Monsieur" and played a new game where we drew an emotion on our whiteboards, and the first person to call our the feeling in French first gets a point! We also completed our art for the Alberta Art contest. Final pieces will be collected Monday and mailed to Edmonton on Tuesday.

Oct. 2 - 6

 Bonjour!

This week grade 4 and grade 5 covered major body parts. We drew purselves and worked together to brainstorm important features and then translate in French. We also learned a new song called "Bonjour Monsieur" that helps us with over 16 body parts in a funny way!

Grade 6 is learning about emotions and reviewing how to use the verb Etre to describe how they are feeling. We listened to a few songs that help us with introducing ourselves and asking others how they are, and then responding.

Grade 5 and 6 have the opportunity to take place in the Alberta Art Contest that is meant to show student's personal connections between language, culture, art, and music. Forms will be going home next week for students who would like to formally participate and send their art to Edmonton to compete!
