March 18 - 22

 Bonjour Les Familles!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by during interviews to look at our Tour de Maison books and our vocabulary quiz. 

This week, grade 4,5 and 6 had their unit test for house vocabulary. Grade 4 had 10 words, based off of the rooms of the house, and some verbs. Grade 5 had 15 words with the addition of object vocabulary. Grade 6 had 16 words on their quiz and also had to name vocabulary for outside of the house. Everyone tried their best and did well!

After our quiz, we had the opportunity to explore a few games we played while learning about household vocabulary such as pictionary, where we draw the room of the house and someone needs to call the name out in French. Students also had the opportunity to play their wordsearch again, or play Snowman (hangman). Here are some pictures from various classes during our games. 

March. 11 - 15

 Bonjour les Familles!

This week was our review week before we wrap up our units in grade 4, 5, and 6. Tour De Maison books were also sent home as homework if not finished, and will be available to view during parent conferences. Reminder that all classes will have a test on the first French Class of the week on the vocabulary covered. Grade 4 will need to identify the names of 7 rooms in French. Grade 5 is also doing this, alongside 5 household object names. Grade 6 is identifying room names and outdoor/ backyard vocabulary. 

Grade 4 and 5 created word searches using the household vocabulary we have been practicing. When they were finished, Students swapped word searches and completed a friends. 

Grade 5 also played pictionary with their household vocabulary, drawing rooms of the house and having groups guess which room is was and call out the correct name in French. 

Grade 6 only had French once this week, so they completed a word search with the household and outdoors vocabulary they have been using.

March 4 - 8

Due to the nature of the week, most classes only received one French Class or no French classes. For those who were able to participate, we added some detail and artistry to last week's Tour De Maison booklets. Students also have the opportunity to take these home to finish them, as this coming week will be the last week that we spend on the topic. Below are some additional celebrations of work. 

Feb. 26 - March 1

 Bonjour!

This week, grade 4's and 5's used their "dream home" from last week as a reference point to create a house tour booklet. 

Grade 5's watched a real house tour video from a native French speaker, and broke down the vocabulary as we listened. Both grades had the opportunity to use the verbs Avoir and Etre in their house tour to describe the room they were in and the objects around them. 

Grade 6 is completing a similar house tour booklet, with the addition of vocabulary to describe the front and back landscape, and outdoor objects that they imagine.
