This week we have French in the sun! All class had an opportunity to play some French games outside to reinforce some of the vocabulary we have been covering.
Students also had the opportunity to continue their work on French animals in their squash books. We are so excited to see the finished product next week!

This week students had the opportunity to begin animal squash books! Grade 5 has already had practice creating these, which were displayed during parent/teacher conferences. Depending on the grade specific vocabulary, students create a visual diagram for 20 animals, including vocabulary and visuals to help us remember. As we move into next week, students will engage with even more songs and games, so practicing our vocabulary through art has been crucial!

This week was all about games! Grade 4, 5, and 6, used the project they created last week to play a variety of games practicing their grade specific vocabulary, including
-memory cards
-trivia
-5,4,3,2,1 facts!
And a new game called Animal Jumble, where students created groups of 3, each student drew and labelled a different part of the animal by reading the prompt on their respective card. Then all students combined their cards to see what their other group mates chose and what new animal they created.

This week, classes began learning about animals in French and building vocabulary for this new unit. Grade 4 will be learning about pets, and domestic animals, grade 5 is doing some review as well as learning farm animals, and grade 6 learns about the animals of Alberta and important Canadian animals.
To practice with this new vocabulary, students created a memory card game, and when finished could swap with a classmate and practice the grade-appropriate French words. Here are some photos from various grades.
